Dr. Suttell began his dental career after graduation from Emory University School of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Suttell worked in two hospitals in the Atlanta area. After graduation from dental school in 1975, Dr. Suttell served on active duty in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, 130th Station Hospital, in Heidelberg, West Germany.
After two years active duty in Germany, Dr. Suttell returned to Emory University where he was accepted into a Fixed Prosthodontics Residency program, which he completed in 1979. The Fixed Prosthodontic Residency program is for advanced oral rehabilitation in the area of crown and bridge dentistry. Also included in his specialty training was complete and partial dentures, cosmetic dentistry, and TMJ. Advanced studies in occlusion of the teeth was also included. Cleft lip and palate also falls into the specialty of Prosthodontics, along with rehabilitation of cancer patients.
He opened his private practice in 1981 and has dedicated his practice to serving his patients with the highest level of care and special attention to their individual needs over a very broad area.. Dr. Suttell recognizes each individuals right to receive the best care possible in an low-stress environment.
He has been a member of various dental implant study clubs and he managed and supervised the literature review for one of these clubs. In addition to over 1000 hours of continuing education, Dr. Suttell also completed the Facial Pain post doctoral mini residency program established by Dr. Parker Mahan at the University of Florida. Dr. Suttell, by a survey of his peers, has been named as one of the area's top dentist’s by Tampa Bay Magazine in 2008.
